Summer Rain and Dreams

We are fortunate to be able to stay at a relative’s house while they are on vacation. This way we get away from our apartment and get some fresh air. In return we watch the house and garden for them. For two days heavy rain has kept us indoors time which we spent together as a family. Our activities have mainly been playing and snuggling with baby girl. Finally yesterday evening it stopped raining. I opened the door to the patio. The moist air and the scent of wet soil were refreshing. The skies were still grey and the last clouds lingered. But in all it was a moment of hope and I felt content.

We wish for sunny days ahead so we can enjoy the garden and patio. Letting baby girl feel the tickling of soft grass on her tiny feet for the first time. There are some chores to take on too, like dead-heading and mowing the lawn.

It is our dream to one day live in our own house with a garden for me to grow and for our girl to play in. My hun wants a garden shed or garage for his hobbies. We use to fantasize how our little family socialize in a large hammock in the shade. Drinking homemade lemonade and eating cinnamon buns.

Today is a good day…

How has your summer been so far?

  1. Continue enjoying your time. And dream on Woman! One day your dream will come true and it’ll be lovely because you waited and kept dreaming. We’ve been in our house for almost a full year and there’s much to still be done, but we’ve started a few things, partially finished a few things, and every day get to bask in the glory and gratitude that we have this space! 🙂

  2. It’s winter here in New Zealand and been raining like it is there – only somehow it seems more okay for indoor rainy days in the winter. I hope you get a house just like this one someday. You sound really happy, despite the rain.

  3. Hi Charlotte,
Sounds like you having a good time staying at your friends house. It is such a pleasure to have the great outdoors right in front of you. I love having my own house and wouldn’t want to go back to apartment living. I really hope you can someday soon be able to have a house where you have a yard and can grow your own garden – flowers and food.
We have had a lot of rain this summer – for a while it seemed like it was never going to stop. Now it has got pretty hot which is normal for this time of year. Most of my flowers are doing well and our sweet potato plants and tomatoes seem to be thriving.
Hope the rest of your stay is filled with sunshine!

    • Thank you Marla! It sounds like your garden got a good start with plenty of rain and now hot/sunny weather. I guess you filled your rain barrels to water during the heat. I bet it grows well on your yard. I hope you will get a rich harvest and a happy summer!
